Joan Marie (Intonte) Hamm, 76, of Amsterdam, NY, peacefully entered into eternal life on Wednesday, March 17th at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
Joan was born in Amsterdam, NY on October 11, 1944. She was the beloved daughter of the late Anthony V. Intonte and Theresa (Cali) Intonte. She attended Johnstown schools from which she graduated in 1962. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Albert and Richard Intonte.
She is survived by her three children, Teri (John) Bement of Attleboro, MA, Mark ( Maria Elena) Hamm of Missouri City, TX and Tricia (Jim) Garner of Amsterdam, NY.
Joan was a proud and loving “Grammie”. She cherished each of her grandchildren who were the light of her life. Her six adoring grandchildren include Anthony Bement, Tim Bement, Gehrig Garner, Christian Hamm, Mark Hamm, and Alexandra Hamm. In addition, several nieces, nephews, and loving cousins also survive.
Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren do the things they love the most, shopping, spending time by the ocean, baking, visiting with friends, and listening to music.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Mohawk Valley Dialysis Center in Amsterdam, NY where she was a patient for over five years for their compassionate care. In addition, the family would like to thank the staff at Rhode Island Hospital and HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, Rhode Island for the care and comfort they provided during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Mohawk Valley Dialysis Center, 115 Towne Square Drive, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Dear Teri, Mark, and Tricia;
Although we have newer met you, we knew your mom well. JHS, class of ’62. We’re sad. Joan was one hell of a lot of fun! Major memories: The I.C. Festivale (pizza frite!); the house front porch; Majorettes; her SMILE! She was a great girl, and we’ll miss her. Our thoughts are with you.
